The Soundwave Festival kicked off for another year in Brisbane yesterday.
As usual, I was there to shoot for The AU Review.
70-odd photos, including Memphis May Fire, Fozzy, Anthrax, The Wonder Years, Bullet For My Valentine, Deaf Havana, Billy Talent, Sleeping With Sirens, Sum 41, Of Mice And Men, Slayer, Paramore, Garbage and Metallica.
This weekend I was asked to come along and shoot Brisbane improv comedy group ImproMafia’s Tales From The Wireless, an unscripted trip back in time to the days of radio serials, complete with live music accompaniment and foley artists. It was lots of fun!
I’ve really cut back on the live music work recently, but Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, my second show of 2013, has me excited to shoot more again.
Unusually for an international act, I shot the whole show in a very hot and sweaty photo pit in Brisbane’s Arena. This was the most fun I’ve had at a gig, either shooting or as a punter for a long time.
