A little soft on the focus around the beak, I know.
For some reason this was converted to tiff and then jpg, and appears to have lost the EXIF data.

I know the name but this is the first time I can put a face to it : neat and natural shot of something presumably nervous of you. AG @ 2006-11-07 20:48:02
Seems he has his head cocked to one side eyeing you up! Nice shot Heath. Craig @ 2006-11-07 22:31:05

Very good nature photography Heath. Because I tend to think of cricket balls associated with the name Kookaburra I keep thinking of these birds as red beaked birds, yeah a wierd Kiwi huh! 8) ndiginiz @ 2006-11-08 03:40:11
Love the warm tones, great shot! Ashish Sidapara @ 2006-11-08 04:08:13

I love these birds! I always sing the little song about them to my son too. faustina @ 2006-11-08 23:33:53
Anton, you are so on the money. I work at a wildlife rehab hospital in Western Aus - where Kookas are NOT native, but now are spread everywhere here thanks to us bright spark humans. So I was amused when a delightful Finnish Vet who is over here to learn about our wildlife was so thrilled to see a Kookaburra in the hospital. I guess there is quite a deal of recognition for these guys around the world. Gary @ 2006-11-09 13:07:40
