A female Golden Orb Weaver Spider (Nephila ornata), just hanging around.
I had a hard time deciding whether to post this straight version, or the high-key verson that you can see here

For me, this one is better than the hi-key. So, how deadly is this thing? I know you guys have spiders there that make our black widow look like a ladybug. The funnel web,,that's the one you need a picture of. clarence @ 2008-02-16 23:06:27
Both look good - what a beast! anton @ 2008-02-17 06:47:47
Both are excellent Heath! So how deadly is this? Craig Wilson @ 2008-02-17 09:39:19
I prefer this version of the spider, because I can see more of the colour and detail. Jylan Wynne @ 2008-02-17 12:51:38
I cast my vote for this all-too-realistic version, traditionalist that I am . . I see the venom is Wiki-described as ‘potent but not dangerous to humans’ but I’d be inclined to give it a miss. AG @ 2008-02-17 17:34:28
I agree with Jylan -- I like the detail. Besides, all that clarity demonstrates your bravery in getting that close to him. ;) Leigh-Anne @ 2008-02-23 04:24:00
